In 2014, at just 20 years old, Seiji Okamoto claimed first prize at the Leipzig International Bach Competition, becoming the first Asian musician to achieve this historic distinction. More than a decade after that defining moment, he now presents a complete recording of Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin—a repertoire revered as the violinist’s ultimate testament.

Since first encountering the Chaconne at the age of six, Okamoto has engaged in a lifelong dialogue with Bach’s unaccompanied works. Through years of profound exploration, he has cultivated an artistry grounded in historical insight and shaped by an exceptionally refined technique. In this recording, these elements ignite with a vivid, liberated musical sensibility, giving rise to a sound world that is both deeply personal and unmistakably original.
